- Mid-Island Sustainable Stewardship Initiative (MISSI)
MISSI
is a new community organization promoting the principles of sustainability for the Mid-Island region. MISSI is concerned with preserving our agricultural lands, forests, parks and green spaces, finding workable solutions for managing growth, residential and industrial land developments and most importantly, encouraging public participation.
Some projects MISSI is currently involved with contributions to the RDN’s Regional Growth Strategy, and an advisement/ review process of the Area ‘A’ OCP (Official Community Plan) and creation of a best practices, sustainability framework plan for the region.

- BC Farm Assessment Review
The Farm Assessment Review will review the farm classification process and regulations. An appointed panel is conducting a province wide, review of farm assessment regulations with the panel's first interim recommendations coming in advance of public consultations throughout British Columbia. The review panel will provide government with a final report and recommendations by July 31, 2009, for consideration for the 2010 Assessment Roll.

BC's Food Self-Reliance
Can BC farmers feed our growing population?
This report was conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands in 2006. The goal of the study was to get a perspective on total food production and food self-reliance in the Province of British Columbia. The study used a methodology to estimate food self-reliance using farm gate production rather than wholesale value.
