COMMUNITY SPRING LITTER CLEAN-UP
MAY 22 (THURSDAY) - 6:00 PM
The South Wellington Environmental Committee (SWEC) is organizing a litter pick up for our area on Thursday, May 22nd beginning at 6:00 pm. After the litter clean-up everyone is invited to meet at the Cranberry Fire hall at 7:30 pm for refreshments.
We would like to do the clean up road by road. Please submit your road to us and designate a "captain" who will make sure that the garbage is ready to be collected at your nearest mailbox by the SWEC "green team". We are looking for a volunteer truck or trailer to pick up the garbage at the various mailboxes. If you have either one available it would be much appreciated.
We are also planning a closing ceremony (to be announced) with recognition for categories such as;
- most garbage picked,
- most innovative garbage receptacle that does not include new plastic,
- youngest and oldest picker,
- largest group of pickers under 19,
- most interesting piece of litter,
- as well as for any picker not already a SWACA member.
We hope that this type of "spring cleaning" will not only make our community cleaner and greener, but also inspire citizen involvement and build on the theme of "all together now".
We want to start out small so we won't be picking up fridges, cars, stoves, etc however we would like to note the location of large items so they can be removed at a later date.
Please contact Gillian (754 4520) or Eve (754 7207) if you are interested in volunteering.

It is fairly easy to do, and the RDN will supply snacks etc. Teenagers are more than welcome to come out to help! I will gladly be a reference for your resume.
If you would like to help out, and to ensure that we have enough supplies please email Krista at; info@southwellington.com . We really appreciate all the work community members have been doing at the park.
