The purpose of SWACA Disaster Preparation Committee is to provide information in preparing citizens and neighbourhoods for disasters that could impact the local community.
Neighbourhood Emergency Prepardeness
The Regional District of Nanaimo offers free neighborhood emergency preparedness workshops that are targeted at helping neighbours in learning how to:
- Minimize existing hazards around the home
- Store emergency supplies
- Act quickly and appropriately when any emergency strikes
- Be prepared to evacuate the home or neighborhood
- Feel more confident because they are prepared and self sufficient
